I have been reading all of the fun choosing of yarns and patterns on the pligg, and it has been making me think about the preferences I put up. I wanted to give enough information that I provided guidance, but not so much that my sock-knitter would feel pressure to knit something they didn't like or wouldn't enjoy. I even said that I would love knee socks (and I would--I like to wear skirts as long as I can), despite many worries that my pal would feel pressured into a whole lot more knitting than she might have signed up for. A pair of knee highs is like 1.5 or 2 pairs (I have small feet and long legs). But maybe she was looking for an excuse to knit knee highs which she would never wear! So I put it in my preferences.
I am having fun determining the perfect yarn, and letting designs swirl around my head for my own pal, but it is challenging to interpret the preferences. If someone likes certain colors and says they are a simple, non-fussy kind of gal, does that mean solid colors, handpainted, or stripes? I don't know.
The reason for this post was mostly to say, that as a first time swapper, I am so thrilled that someone is knitting me socks, and I want only positive, delightful, seeking of the "perfect" yarn and pattern for my pal, not anxious "will this be good enough" seeking. Unless I get a pair of socks in the one color I dislike, and big enough for an elephant, I am going to show this pair of socks off to every person on the street when I wear them and say "See, someone knit a pair of socks Just For Me!"
Let the fun continue!
