Halfway there

I'm halfway through knitting for my Sock Pal! I am a bit concerned because my pal lives in a warm climate, but does prefer longer socks so I've knit them to be 8" from floor to calf, but they are solid versus lacy. Do you think this is a bad combo? This is my first swap ever and I'm rather nervous about creating something that my pal won't like / be able to wear!

---ETA---

Thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to let my Sock Pal know there are others out there who want them haha.

As for the pattern, well I followed the Butterfly stitch pattern that appears in the first Vogue Stitchionary and offset it each repeat. Otherwise I didn't follow a pattern, exactly. I know that there is a pattern available to buy called Whiskers and Paws that is similar. I do plan to write this up since several people I've shown this to have asked.

Thanks again!

I love them ... when you send them to your pal, just include a note telling her/him that if she/he thinks they are too warm to post them to Heddy ! Very pretty -- I think even if the person lives in a warm climate, they would still need socks on cool damp days (and warm places still get a "cold" season -- mind you, not -15 C but still cool for them!)

I love them! What is the pattern? I am sure they will be perfect. It is about 15c here today but rainy and damp. My wool socks feel great so I am sure your pal will get to use them!

if you pal doesn't like them, tell her to send them to me. They are beautiful. What pattern did you use?

The yarn looks great in the Whiskers & Paws pattern! I'd love to have them, she'll be thrilled.

They are beautiful, and I'm sure they'll be a hit. If not, forget the others above, and send them to me!

So cute!

I live in a warm climate and we consider anything below 50F/10C "freezing" so she'll love them.

If not, add me to the list of people who'd LOVE to get them.

ohhhh--pretty socks! As long as the yarn isn't too thick (like worsted weight or something...) she should be able to wear them for at least several months out of the year.

I think they're gorgeous! Love the colors and the pattern.

I will wear wool non-lace 8" cuff socks on any day when I'm not wearing my Birkenstocks. I'm sure your pal will love the socks. One of the great things about wool is that it is comfy through lots of different temps.

The pattern is perfect for a verigated yarn! So many times the pattern gets lost, but this one stands out perfectly. I love them, and I'll have to keep checking to see when you've got a pattern written up (although, I'm sure if I got a hold of the Vogue book you mentioned, I could devise something similar for myself). Well done!

Very pretty socks, I live in a cold climate and I'd sign up to be on the list of people who would take them if she doesn't! :) Please include me in the pattern too!

Beautiful socks! I SO know what you mean about being nervous. I was ever so confident when I started my sock pal's socks, but now that I'm half-way done, I'm not so sure.
