Yarn Acquired!

Oh Boy!

I've emailed my spoilee and asked for more info but since she gave me carte blanche with her socks, I bought yarn!! To be specific....Cider Moon Glacier from The Loopy Ewe. In the Victoria colorway......so pretty!! Can't wait for it to get here so I can cast on!

greetings

I'm another first timer. This is also my first knitting exchange of any kind so I'm massively excited :D

I'm already busy spying on my pal and sifting through patterns. We seem to have similar taste in colors so I should be able to shop my stash, unless of course I just happen to see something perfect, then I've got a built in excuse to yarn shop (It's okay, it's for my pal!!, lol) which is even better.

I've also heard from *my* pal already, yay! Good times.

I spent all of April knitting for me (Wicked and knee highs)so May is shaping up to be all about gift knitting. I can't wait.

Visitor's are most welcome here at my blog. It's pretty new and I'd love the company.

Hi from CT!

This is my first sockapalooza and I just wanted to give a quick shout out from Connecticut. Unfortunately Blogger was mad at me and wouldn't let me post my hello. Mean Blogger! Anyway, I now have my pal's info and am looking forward to getting started on her socks.

I, like most of you, have a blog where you can see some of the socks I've knit and witness my general craziness.

Looking forward to some sockity goodness!

Looking for a good yarn store

Hi everyone! I thought I would take this opportunity of having so many knitters from all over the world at my finger tips to ask for some help in finding a few good yarn store in Scotland. I'm going for a little vacation next week and would like to get some good Scottish wool or just cool stuff I can't get at home. I'll be in Edinburgh for a good part of it and on the Isle of Skye as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and who knows I may even get some super special sock yarn for my pal, which may be you!

Feels like fun!

I have my pal's details, I have my crayons, my paints, and a ball of Opal Feelings... what happens next is FUN!
Come see my blog!

Hello from Cleveland!

This is so exciting! It's my first ever swap, and doing socks couldn't be any more fun! I'm really anxious to get started now that I have my "pal." She's pretty open for anything which is awesome! It just means I'll actually have to get my butt in gear and actually make a decision on my own!! She doesn't have a blog, so I'm going to have to "wing it." I can be "stalked" at www.rosieknits.com.

Hi from Bavaria!

This is my first sockapalooza and I´m so excited! I already got my sockpals info and I choose a pattern. Now I only need the perfect yarn.

Sockapalooza is so much fun!

Everybody who wants to know more about me an my knitting is welcome to visit my blog: Schnueffeltier´s Kreativwelt

Hello from Southern Germany!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at <span class=

Hi everyone, this is Faith from The Knitting Cook podcast. I participated in Sockapalooza for the first time last year, and I'm so glad to be part of this again! I cannot believe how huge this knit-along is. I think that this group blog is a great idea, because it will help to centralize the whole effort.

I've created a "secret" email account for myself, and have started emailing with my giftee. I didn't do that last year, and was sad that I hadn't made the effort. The more participation, the better! I hope to be able to get to know my giftee's likes, dislikes, and choose the perfect yarn and pattern for the socks. I want this swap to be really special for my pal.

My plan is to use some yarn that I've never even handled before, so I'm pretty excited to order it! More to follow...

In the spirit of all things socks, here's some recent stash enhancement I've done for no reason other than that I'm feeling excessively "sockish" as of late! (??!)

Blogapalooza

I've been lurking around the knitting blogs for so long that finally to have joined in for my first Sockapalooza feels a little like getting picked for a team at recess after standing on the sidelines for a years. Soooo exciting.

I have finally jumped on the blog bandwagon too, though my blog is a pretty well-kept secret. I realize that blogging is supposed to create a public forum, and yet I have kept my own blog pretty much under my hat. I am either testing the waters or fostering a secret knitting persona. My blog may be the adult equivalent of an imaginary friend.

Anyway, this is my first exchange of any kind (unless you count the one-sided knitting and bestowing of Christmas and birthday gifts as an "exchange"), and I am really excited. Unfortunately, with 1,006 of us there will be so many blog entries that it will be hard to follow the various narrative threads (or should I say "yarns"?) of socks-in-progress.

But I would appreciate a tip: "secret" simply means that our sock pal cannot know who we are, correct? We can post pictures of our socks-in-progress on our own blogs, or here? Or do we simply have to use evocative prose to record our progress?

Happy Socking to all.

PS You guys weren’t kidding that it can be hard to post here – I have been trying to get this to post since last night! (Something I said?)

Got my Pal, Got her Yarn

I was able to access my pal's info on the 2nd try - yeah, tech guy! I think I have the perfect yarn for her. It's funny because my stash isn't very big, and this was my most recent addition. It's a beautiful nearly solid color, so I just need to find a great pattern to show it off.
My pal hasn't been posting much on her blog lately - I think she has a heavy school schedule and it might be finals time. Hope she can back to it soon so I can gather more info.
Need to remember to check my spam inbox to see if I have any super-secret incoming mail.

Measurements specified

Dear Sock Pal,
I specified the measurements of my feet in the sockapalooza 4 database like purple princess suggested.
When you send me an e-mail pls use a clear subject that it can doesn't end up in the spam folder.

Hello from Missouri

This is the first Sockapalooza for me, and I am ready to get started. I have already ordered the special sock yarn for my pal!

Enjoy everyone!

:-)

Ready to knit!

My victimsockpal is picky. Oh so picky, about fiber, about color, about pattern and color combinations. I looked at her blog, what amazing things she has knit.
It is ok, I have the ability to knit her socks that will make her happy, that it is not possible for her to knit herself, that I know that she has never knit.

What is really a hoot is that we lived in that city once in our lives. But there is now an ocean between so no chance of running into each other on the street.

Evil chuckle as she winds the yarn

So difficult to choose!

My pal has no fiber preferences or favorite colors, only some shades she doesn't like so much. She told that I should pick a pattern which is fun to knit.

I'm lucky because her foot measurements are almost same as mine, only one cm bigger, so it'll be easy to knit pattern in the right size.

Hello from Chicago!

It's my first Sockapalooza, and I'm pretty excited to get started. Except these days, it's more of a sweaterpalooza as I try to finish an Aran cardigan. The socks are my reward for seaming. My husband and I blog here.

Title Goes Here

Hi all! I'm new to Sockapalooza and to swaps in general. However, I am VERY excited for the swap! I got my pal's info and am trying to pick a yarn and pattern - my pal is very flexible, which means more choices for me!

I can be blog-stalked here. Please stop by and say hi!

Choices...

Help me choose what colorway to go with! Vote on my blog, please. Thanks!

Can't Wait to get Sockin'

Hello to all 1005 of you Sockapaloozers. I can't believe there are so many of us!!!! I am so excited about Sockapalooza. It's my first one, and my first swap. I missed out on the last round by a day, and followed it like crazy. I have been blog stalking all you knitters for over a year now, but have just joined the knit blog world. Check out my blog, I promise to keep updating all my sock info! I am having fun picking out yarn and a pattern that I think my pal will love. I have already heard from my pal by e-mail! I feel so lucky.

Hooray! It's Sockapalooza time again!

This'll be my 3rd Sockapalooza & I've really enjoyed the first 2. I have my pal's info & am a little overwhelmed by the amount of freedom she's given me! So many options, it makes my head spin!

First I have to finish up my International Scarf Exchange item, then I can really devote myself to Sockapaloozing! :)

First time paloooz-er

I haven't done a swap before, so I'm pretty excited about the whole process. I have my sock pal's info, and I think I know the pattern that I'm going to use. I think we have pretty similarly sized feet, so that should prove helpful in sizing. Now to figure out the yarn. I'll probably make updates at my blog once I figure it out for sure. Yay! Many thanks to Alison for organizing.

P.S. To anyone who's still having trouble logging in - I just now got Blogger to accept my original invite link, and I've been trying since late last week, so keep trying!

Help?

I have only recently started knitting socks and am really enjoying it. I have only knit them top down though and alot of patterns are toe up. Plus I like the look of the seamless toe. Can anyone recommend an easy to follow tutorial or a must have book for a toe up cast on? Thanks
Shari

hopefully this time...

I will be able to get past blogger and post this!
Greetings from rather flat norfolk.
I am a sockapalooza virgin.
Really looking forward to it but slightly apprehensive too.

hey sockbuddies!

Wow. This is just MASSIVE. Are there really 1,000 of us?! I love it!

Hi, I'm Kris. Or, according to this, "Kristin N" if that's who you're looking for. ;) I finally gave in and re-started a knitting blog at http://slipkrisknit.blogspot.com, and soon I might even have time to take pics of FO's and WIPs for it, wouldn't that be nice? :-D

Anyways, I've been knitting for a few years off and on, but it took learning to knit socks to kick me back into knitting overdrive. Now, so long as I have a sock on the needles, I get other projects done too! I'm definitely a process knitter though, so the more interesting and fun the pattern is and the nicer the yarn is, the happier I am. Which makes swaps just the best thing ever for me.

I hope you all post lots of WIP pictures and I can't wait to think about a thousand pairs of handknitted socks flying all over the world in August!

PS - geez I hope they fix these server issues, or this is going to be unworkable. I've been trying to post this for 10 15 20 minutes now and getting nothing but errors. Argh. :(

I'm ready!

Yarn - check
Pattern - check
Needles - check

Sockpal - CHECK!

I'm so excited, I could just plotz!

Finally!

After many attempts, I finally am able to get through the initial invitation and load to post to the blog. This is my first sockapalooza and am excited to participate! I got my pal and just need to send an email to her to let her know she has someone that is making a pair of socks for her. I also got a post to my blog from my "mystery sock pal." I just started my blog so it was great to actually have a comment from someone, I thought it was a great idea.
Now I'm off to send an email to one of the 1000 participants!

Greetings from Ohio!

My name is Angi. I am a Doula in Southern Ohio. I've been knitting socks since January 2000. I learned from the Spinfree S.O.C.K.S. class.
I participated in the first sockapalooza but took a break for exchanges 2 and 3. I'm looking forward to this round! I'm sharing my blog space with my daughter in law for this event. She is a very talented knitter.

I'm anxious to see the patterns and colors people choose for their socks!

Hello from Halifax!

Hello all - I'm new to sock swaps and am eagerly looking forwards to seeing all the lovely socks that are created for this KAL. I have my sock partner's info, and have chosen the yarn and pattern based on her preferences. I'm so spoiled - she likes pretty colours and lace socks - this is going to be a blast! I'm thinking of Baudelaire from knitty.com in this colourway from The Natural Dye Studio. Hope she likes it!

I can be blogstalked here. ;)

First-timer

Hi! I'm debsnm, from Santa Fe, NM. As you can probably guess, this is my first socapalooza. I'm very excited to find out who my pal is, and start knitting socks! Cause, you know, you can never have too many projects on the needles. heehee
