ripping like mad..

Oh, have I had some serious bad luck with my sock pal's socks!! I've torn 'em back several times, but now...*whispers so the sock can't hear*...I think it's working...I turned to Charlene Schurch, who always comes to my sock rescue (wonder of the Stones ever thought of THAT title? prob'ly not...). And went back to my beloved and well bent bamboo DPs. I really need to have the yarn held nice 'n tight for me. Ha Ha, Schaefer Anne!! you will not beat me!!

thanks, Charlene!! Oh, and the colours don't really look like that...I promise, they're much nicer in real life!

Making Progress

Sockapalooza 4 Sock
Working along on my pal's socks. It's a bit tricky because her foot measurements are very different from mine. Fun nonetheless. :)

Finished Early - that almost never happens!

My pal's socks are done!
Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to get a picture onto this blog - the disadvantage of not having one of my own. I will see what I can figure out in the next day or so because I really want to share. They look good to me - it's lucky for my pal that my feet are 4 sizes bigger than hers!

Sockapalooza Socks Finished

I finished these for my Sockapalooza pal at the end of last month but have only just got around to posting a piccie of them after being washed and blocked.

You may remember seeing these at the end of May - they were made using the Sockamania May Day pattern. I used Fyberspates 100% Bluefaced Leicester sock yarn and 2 x 2.75 mm Inox Greys.

I knew as soon as I started knitting these that the combination of pattern and yarn was just perfect for my Sockapalooza pal. Trouble is, they're so nice, I *almost* don't want to give them away ..... ;0)

My Excuse for Lack of Sock Progress

Dear Sock Pal,
Sorry I haven't been making a lot of progress on your socks lately - I've been busy working on the comfort blanket project for the VT tragedy. We have received 6100 squares so far (I made about 20). Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the squares came without the ends woven in, so I've been really busy with that. Yesterday we had a "joining day" and got 19 blankets sewn together so 41 to go. Here is a picture of one of your socks in front of a completed blanket - I'm almost to the toe. Emmie

sigh

Between graduation, a new job, and a rowdy game of beer pong (or two), I haven't been able to get as much done on my sock as i usually would. The bamboo yarn is really great, though I should have listened and done it in a looser guage, but I like them all chunky. I'm doing my version of a basic sock, which is stockinette with a 4 by 6 cable down the side. You can see the cable better in the first picture, but the colors in the second are much more accurate.

Which one?

Sorry, un techie, couldn't figure out the plig! But I need feedback too....which one?? My pal says she's happy with most colors. And thicker and wilder are okay. :) Please help me choose!

Halfway there

I'm halfway through knitting for my Sock Pal! I am a bit concerned because my pal lives in a warm climate, but does prefer longer socks so I've knit them to be 8" from floor to calf, but they are solid versus lacy. Do you think this is a bad combo? This is my first swap ever and I'm rather nervous about creating something that my pal won't like / be able to wear!

---ETA---

Thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to let my Sock Pal know there are others out there who want them haha.

As for the pattern, well I followed the Butterfly stitch pattern that appears in the first Vogue Stitchionary and offset it each repeat. Otherwise I didn't follow a pattern, exactly. I know that there is a pattern available to buy called Whiskers and Paws that is similar. I do plan to write this up since several people I've shown this to have asked.

Thanks again!

Finished!

I loved knitting these socks from the first 'till the very last stitch.
I only regret that they knitted so fast... I will definitelly cast on for another pair of teosinte socks in the near future ;o)

I do hope my sock pal will love them as much as I do ;o)

found it

I've been sitting around, trying to think up something suitable for my pal. By "sitting around", I mean knitting gratuitous grad and birthday gifts, but whatever. I kept coming up with things that were the wrong guage for what I have in the stash, or the colors I have look ugly or any number of things that could dead - end an idea.
Today I was working at The Wool and the Floss (Detroit area knitting and needlepointe shop), when a very large box arrived. Inside were several bags of Panda Cotton, which my boss had been telling me about since she saw them at Crystal Palace's booth last month. Crystal Palace is right where I grew up, so I love them to begin with, and as soon as I picked it up, iI fell totally in love with it. I had a hell of a time picking the color, what do you guys think?

Where are you sockpal?

Why haven´t I heard from you? Don´t you like me anymore? Meow at me, please, and I'll stop pawing at your door. I promise :)

Rip - it, Rip - it said the little froggy

The yarn was picked, the pattern was set, I had completed lots of ribbing and one whole repeat of the pattern when we realized... it was going to be tooooooo small. So the little froggy came a courting and he went rip it, rip it, rip it all out. I have restarted the sock, no fear and it is coming along nicely. Lets hope that mr. froggy doesn't have to come this way again.
